Local Fresh Produce

Eating fresh local produce is great for everybody. It’s good for you that your food doesn’t have to travel several miles on a boat, plane, or truck after it’s been picked. It’s good for your local producers when you buy their products so they can stay in business and continue to provide great fresh food. It’s a win-win…
Produce is least expensive when it is in season. How do you know what’s in season… and you can buy locally??? Well… just check out this link to Sustainable Table’s site and plug in your geographic information to find out what’s in season in your area.
You can use this site to help you plan meals based on what’s in season and what you’ll get for the best price at the store as well.
What did any of this have to do with flowers????? Nothing really… but I spent the day at my Mom’s house and they were so pretty I couldn’t resist… carry on…

Actually, did you know that pansies are edible? I used to make a pansy salad when I was working as a private chef. So see… flowers are the perfect photos for such a post. 🙂
