No… not the candies in the red bag… try again…
Why are kids so drawn to boxes of fruit snacks and rows of candy… the COLOR!! Doesn’t the packaging make it look so tasty and satisfying?!?!
Here’s an idea… put the same brilliant colors in front of your family in a different form… raw fruits and veggies. I made up this tray to take to a friend’s house for lunch recently. The kids loved it!!
Nothing crazy… just raw fruits and veggies prepared in sizes little fingers can grab them. I left this on the side of the counter and the kids came back for more and more looking to see if us moms noticed, as if they were getting away with something they shouldn’t 🙂
If your kids aren’t big fruit and veggie eaters try putting something like this out pre-dinner and let them “sneak” some good stuff. Sometimes I even tell my kids they can only have one piece so they think it’s great fun when I let them keep coming back! If they’re loading up on these before dinner you won’t think twice about worrying how much they eat at the table 🙂
If you’re kids are into dipping try some hummus on the side… Mmmmmm!!!
